ABOUT

LYNETTE MARIAH, HEAD PASTICCERE AND FOUNDER OF PASTICCINO

It has been said that if cooking is an Art, then baking is a Science.  So who better than a Doctor of Science to bake you the best cakes – after all, baking is a lab experiment!  Most experienced cooks follow a recipe the first time, but alter it the next time based on the results – they’re essentially testing the hypothesis via the scientific method to arrive at a flawless conclusion.

Lynette's skills in unique designs, texture and taste are world-class which are fed by her academic accolades in Science and Engineering.  It is this combination of Chemistry and Design that enables her to amalgamate the finest of ingredients to form a batter that is baked with love and then sculptured into a masterpiece of your most brilliant imagination.

Lyn is able to identify the art and come up with some of her most creative ideas by finding inspiration in her daily life, everyday objects and most importantly, her beautiful kids, bringing all this to life on her baking tray.

Lyn has been baking bespoke cakes and desserts long before it was trendy.  Her love for testing flavours and desserts started at a very early age and then went on to reach amazing peaks while regularly spending time abroad in Italy, learning and capturing the taste and panache associated with Italian pastries. To everyone’s delight she then launched Pasticcino (pronounced pahs/tee/TCHEE/noh) home of the most decadent and creative designer cakes in Gauteng.
